COLUMBIA, S.C. - Buffalo Bills safety Ko Simpson was arrested outside a bar in his hometown of Rock Hill after he refused to leave officers alone as they arrested another man, according to a police report.

Ever since the New York Jets fired Eric Mangini as head coach, the rumors have been running rampant as to who the team is interested to fill their head coaching vacancy; the word out on the street, according to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News, is that a person familiar with the Jets’ inner workings is saying that the team is very interested in former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan. But the Jets, in the meantime, are going to interview several candidates, including: Jets offensive coordinator Brian Scottenheimer, Jets assistant head coach/offensive line Bill Callahan, New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Mel Tucker

A pair of first-year coaches made a splash in the post-season in more ways than one as it was announced that Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith and Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano will share the USA TODAY’s NFL Coach of the Year Award. The award was well-deserved for both coaches as they both engineered a dramatic improvement to their team’s win-loss bottom line. Apparently the move to fire Mike Shanahan came from left field as some of his players were shocked to say the least when they heard the news. Rookie Fullback/Linebacker Spencer Larsen: “I’m very shocked, extremely shocked.” “I don’t think any of us saw this coming.” Quarterback Jay Cutler: “I’m disappointed, I’m shocked, I’m not happy about it, I’m not pleased with it at all,” Cutler said by phone Tuesday.
