The never ending saga of Tom Cable as coach of the Raiders continues, as there was talk of a decision being made early in the week on his status, but here it is Wednesday and nothing has happened. One thing seems to be happening in Raider land though, and that is Al Davis is talking to other coaches. ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson is reporting today that the Raiders have asked for and gotten permission to speak to Ravens QB coach Hue Jackson.

It seems not a day goes by that Buffalonians are reading about another potential coaching candidate who has rejected either the offer to become head coach of the Bills, or the time and effort it would take to even interview for the still vacant job, which, by the way, is one of only 32 NFL jobs and the ONLY one open.

For those of you who watched the Arizona-New Orleans game earlier today, then you probably learned by watching that crime-in-progress that getting two weeks of rest does your team a world of good. The question, despite that piece of truth, that was needed to be asked when the Baltimore Ravens came to Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday to take on the Indianapolis Colts was this: Would the Ravens exploit the Colts’ lack of a running attack, leaving the fate of the Colts on the arm of Peyton Manning?

During today’s news conference with the New York media, Jets coach and Jabba the Hutt impersonator Rex Ryan was asked how he felt about the team being underdogs to the Bengals just days after beating them 37-0. “I wasn’t aware of that,” Ryan said “but we should be favorites.” When asked to clarify if he meant the Jets should be favored to beat the Bengals on Saturday or something more he said, “I mean in the whole tournament.” He went on to tout his team’s top-ranked defense and rushing game as reasons for his supreme confidence.
